Private Orthodontics

Private orthodontic treatment is available for children and adults. Again in most cases you will be referred by your own dentist. However we can carry out a consultation without a referral, but we must emphasise the importance of regular dental check ups with your own dentist, especially if you are having orthodontic treatment. There is an initial fee of £90 (July, 2007) for a consultation and treatment planning which includes all x-rays, models, and a follow up appointment when Dr Cooper will then discuss your treatment options and fees. After the consultation, if you wish to proceed with orthodontic treatment payment can be spread over the 12 to 24 months treatment period, by monthly payments.

Orthodontics is the straightening of teeth which are either crowded, spaced or crooked. Orthodontic treatment usually takes between 12 and 24 months. Before, during and after treatment you will need to maintain a high standard of oral hygiene and it is important that you visit your own dentist regularly. Both children and adults can benefit from realigning and straightening the teeth.

NHS Orthodontics

This is available for children up to the age of 18, and are referred by their own dentist. The introduction of the new NHS dental contract in April, 2006, has placed restrictions on the orthodontic treatment of minor crowding or misalignment of the teeth. At your first appointment Dr Cooper will assess and advise you as to whether or not you are within the NHS treatment guidelines. NHS orthodontic treatment for children up to the age of 18 years is free of charge.
